Humanoid robots in the HardwareMap index come from 9 companies as of REV 26.09, across the United States, China, Germany and Canada, from Series A to publicly listed. This page lists each one with HQ hub, funding stage, disclosed capital raised and status. Ranking rule: shipping evidence first, funding second. It sits under the hardware startups index.

The table is live: it is drawn from the same records as each company's datasheet, so it changes when the index does. For the newest launches and funding rounds, see the humanoid robots changelog.

How we rank humanoid robots

"Top" lists in robotics usually rank by press coverage. This one ranks by evidence a buyer can check.

  1. Shipping to paying customers. A product delivered under a commercial contract or sold at a public price.
  2. Paid pilots. A named customer, a site and a task, announced by the customer or the maker.
  3. Pre-commercial. Working prototypes and demos, no named paying deployment.

Inside each tier, disclosed capital raised breaks ties. "Raised" means disclosed equity rounds only. Where a figure is not public the table says undisclosed; we do not estimate.

Humanoid robots shipping today

Agility Robotics (Salem, Oregon) builds Digit, a bipedal robot with arms sized for moving totes. In 2024 it signed what it called the first formal commercial deployment of a humanoid, a multi-year robots-as-a-service agreement with GXO Logistics (Agility announcement). That puts it at the top of the shipping tier.

Unitree Robotics (Hangzhou) sells humanoids the way it sells quadrupeds: at volume and at a listed price. The G1 launched at $16,000est for the base model, low enough that university labs buy them as research platforms (Unitree G1). The H1 is the larger, full-size unit.

UBTECH Robotics (Shenzhen) is listed in Hong Kong and has sold service and education robots for a decade. Its Walker S humanoid has been trialled on EV assembly lines in China. It is the only humanoid maker in the index with a long public revenue record.

Humanoid robots in paid pilots

Figure AI (San Jose) has raised the most disclosed capital of any humanoid company in the index. Its robots ran a pilot at BMW's Spartanburg plant, and it has shown successive generations of its Figure robot since 2023 (Figure).

Apptronik (Austin) builds Apollo, aimed at case picking and line-side delivery. It has announced agreements with Mercedes-Benz and GXO, and a manufacturing partnership with Jabil to build Apollo units (Apptronik).

1X Technologies (Palo Alto, with roots in Norway) sold EVE, a wheeled humanoid, into security work before turning to NEO, a soft-bodied home robot. It opened consumer preorders for NEO in October 2025 with deliveries scheduled for 2026 (1X NEO). Until units arrive in homes, we file it under pilots.

Pre-commercial humanoid robot companies

Neura Robotics (Metzingen, Germany) sells cobot arms today and is developing 4NE1, a humanoid. Its disclosed funding is among the largest in European robotics. Sanctuary AI (Vancouver) builds Phoenix, with a focus on dexterous hands and teleoperation-trained control. Fourier Intelligence (Shanghai) came to humanoids from rehabilitation exoskeletons and ships its GR series to research and healthcare customers in China.

Missing a name you expected? Tesla's Optimus and Boston Dynamics' Atlas are programs inside larger companies, not startups, so the index does not list them. The top robotics companies list covers the wider field, and the humanoid robot market note follows the money.

What separates humanoid robots that ship

Three patterns hold across the list.

  • A narrow first job. Digit moves totes. Apollo moves cases. The companies with paying customers picked one task and one site before claiming general purpose.
  • A price or a contract you can cite. Unitree publishes prices. Agility publishes its customer. Most others publish demos.
  • Supply chain depth. The Chinese makers in the index source actuators, reducers and batteries close to home, which shows up in price. See Chinese humanoid robots for that side of the field.

What humanoid robots cost to build and buy

Few makers publish prices, so most cost talk is estimate. Two anchors are public: Unitree's listed G1 price, and 1X's NEO preorder price of $20,000, or a monthly subscriptionest. Industrial units are sold on contracts, often as a service billed by the hour or month, so the buyer pays for uptime rather than the robot. For a founder, the bill of materials is the number that matters: actuators, gearboxes, batteries and compute dominate it, and our bill of materials example shows how to lay one out.

Status changes monthly, and this list changes with it. The next REV adds new entries, updates stages and marks status changes here first.

Frequently asked questions

How many humanoid robot companies are there?

The HardwareMap index lists 9 humanoid robot companies as of REV 26.09, across the United States, China, Germany and Canada. Wider industry counts run past 100 once university spinouts and prototype-only teams are included. The index lists a company only when it has a product, a public source and an operating team.

Which company makes the best humanoid robot?

There is no single best, because the machines do different jobs. Agility Robotics has the longest paid deployment record in logistics. Unitree sells the most units to researchers at the lowest price. Figure AI has raised the most disclosed capital. This page ranks by shipping evidence first and funding second, and states that rule so you can apply your own.

Can I buy a humanoid robot today?

Yes, with limits. Unitree sells its G1 and H1 to research labs and developers through its own store and resellers. 1X has taken consumer preorders for NEO, a home humanoid, with deliveries scheduled for 2026. Most other makers sell through pilots and multi-year contracts with factories and warehouses, not to individuals.

Are humanoid robots actually working in factories?

Some are, in narrow roles. Agility's Digit moves totes for GXO Logistics under a robots-as-a-service contract. Figure, Apptronik and UBTECH have announced pilots with carmakers including BMW, Mercedes-Benz and several Chinese EV makers. Pilot announcements are not fleet deployments, and few companies publish unit counts or hours worked.

Why are so many humanoid robot companies in China?

China has a deep supply chain for motors, reducers, batteries and sensors, and local governments fund robotics parks and procurement. That lowers the bill of materials and shortens iteration loops. Unitree, UBTECH and Fourier in the index all build in China, and our Chinese humanoid robots list tracks them separately.
